Honda V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype – the golden mean between past and future
Honda surprises at EICMA 2025 with the V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype:
a 900 cc V3 engine with electronically controlled compressor.
A tribute to the Hawk and VFR series, but with technology of tomorrow.
Honda V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype – Honda’s golden mean between past and future
- Premiere: V3 engine with electronically controlled compressor
- Unique concept: “Non-Rail Roller Coaster” – excitement and calm in one machine
- Power & efficiency: performance of 1200 cc from 900 cc displacement
- Design: asymmetrical fairing parts, new “Honda Flagship WING” emblem
- Frame & heritage: tubular frame and single-sided swingarm as a tribute to Hawk and VFR
Honda surprised at EICMA 2025 with the V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype – a concept motorcycle that offers a new future for the traditional combustion engine. After the first teaser of the V3 engine in 2024, Honda now reveals the full prototype: a machine that combines technological innovation with the brand’s rich heritage.

Electronically controlled compressor – world premiere
The 75-degree V3 is water-cooled and has a displacement of 900 cc. New is the electronically controlled compressor – a world first for motorcycles. This regulates the turbo pressure in real time, allowing the engine to respond powerfully even at low revs while remaining cleaner and more efficient. The result: performance comparable to a 1200 cc engine, but with the weight and efficiency of a 900 cc unit.
Non-Rail Roller Coaster – the concept behind the experience
Honda calls the concept “Non-Rail Roller Coaster”: a motorcycle that offers both ‘promised thrills’ and ‘reassuring peace of mind’. This translates into a directly responsive engine and a stable chassis that inspires confidence, even when the full power is unleashed. The asymmetrical fairing parts and the new Honda Flagship WING emblem emphasize that this V3R 900 serves as a precursor to the next generation of Honda designs.
Heritage in modern form
The V3R 900 E-Compressor bridges Honda’s iconic past and its technological future. The single-sided swingarm refers to the Honda Hawk, the first motorcycle with aluminum single-sided suspension and twin-spar frame. At the same time, the tubular frame and V-configuration echo the spirit of the legendary VFR750R (RC30). With its V3 engine, this motorcycle sits exactly between the V2 of the Africa Twin and the V4 of the VFR series – a golden mean combining balance, character, and innovation.
This swingarm calls out for a nicer rear sprocket carrier from CNC Racing and a swingarm protector from Ilmberger Carbon.

Design & construction
The compact engine allows for a slim build with a low center of gravity and optimal weight distribution. The asymmetrical fairing design highlights the airflow around the compressor, while the single-sided rear wheel suspension reveals the technical heart. Together they form a machine that is both functional and sculptural.
What does the Honda V3R mean for parts and accessories?
At GeGShop.nl we follow new motorcycle platforms not only out of interest but especially from the perspective of parts, accessories, and technical upgrades. The Honda V3R 900 E-Compressor is special in this regard: the compact V3 engine, the electric compressor, and the visible airflow require a different approach than existing Honda models.
As soon as the Honda V3R and any subsequent V3 models are production-ready, we expect a new generation of model-specific accessories. Think of protection around the cooling system and air intake, lightweight carbon parts, ergonomic upgrades, and detailed finishing that matches the technical and sporty character of this platform.
Specifically for this new generation of Honda motorcycles, we have set up a separate Honda V3R collection, which will be expanded in the coming years as parts become available.
It would not surprise us if Honda eventually also comes with a V3 crossover or sporty version, like a V3X or V3RR, so keep an eye on our V3 Page for new models!

Q&A
Is the V3R 900 E-Compressor production-ready?
The prototype is still in the development phase. Honda uses the V3R 900 as a study model to test technologies that will later appear in production models. The first production-ready V3R is expected to hit the market in 2026, or the actual launch may take place at EICMA 2026.
What makes the V3 engine special?
The 75-degree V3 layout combines the compactness of a V2 with the balance and smoothness of a V4. In combination with the electronic compressor, this offers a unique torque curve and direct throttle response.
Is this the successor to the CB1000R?
Not officially, but the V3R 900 clearly shares DNA with the CB1000R. The tubular frame, single-sided swingarm, and sporty naked silhouette strongly refer to that line – now enriched with new technology.
What does this mean for Honda’s future?
The V3R 900 E-Compressor shows that Honda is committed to efficient combustion engines with electronic control as a bridge between classic motorcycling experience and future environmental requirements. The prototype symbolizes the motto from Honda’s 2030 vision: “Joy of free and fun mobility.”
