Leather cleaning for motorcycle seats, riding gear, and accessories

Remove dirt, sweat, and greasy residues without unnecessarily affecting the character of the leather

Leather is used intensively and on a motorcycle regularly comes into contact with sweat, skin oils, dust, insects, and road grime. Without proper maintenance, the surface can feel dull, greasy, or stiff. With a suitable leather cleaner, you can clean leather seats and motorcycle clothing carefully and prepare the material for any further care.

A good leather cleaner removes dirt from the material’s structure without the need for hard scrubbing. This helps preserve the original matte or natural appearance better than when using an aggressive all-purpose cleaner or household product.

Clean leather seats and riding gear carefully

Preferably apply the cleaner with a soft leather brush, microfiber applicator, or cloth. Work on small sections and move gently over the surface. Use no more product than necessary and avoid saturating seams and perforated areas completely.

Wipe off loosened dirt and product residues with a clean, lightly absorbent microfiber cloth. For heavy dirt, repeat the treatment several times rather than applying strong pressure immediately.

Always test on an inconspicuous spot

Not every material that looks like leather is finished the same way. Motorcycle seats and clothing can be made of smooth leather, coated leather, synthetic leather, suede-like materials, or combinations with textiles. Therefore, first check the manufacturer’s material information.

Always test a cleaning product on a small, inconspicuous area. After drying, check that no discoloration, stains, or changes in surface texture have occurred.

Cleaning is different from conditioning or protecting

A leather cleaner removes dirt but does not automatically form a long-lasting protective layer. After cleaning, a separate conditioner or protector can be applied to suitable leather. Make sure the care product is appropriate for motorcycle seats and riding gear.

A greasy conditioner can make a seat or sitting area slippery. Therefore, use only products on these parts that do not leave an unwanted slippery surface.

Allow leather to dry completely

After cleaning, let the material dry naturally, away from direct heat and strong sunlight. Do not place motorcycle clothing near a heater or use hot air to speed up the process.

Store leather clothing dry and well ventilated. Clean dirt and insects promptly to prevent them from settling into the surface for a long time.
