Brake Caliper

Brake Calipers for Reliable Braking Power and Precise Control

Choose a complete brake caliper or suitable overhaul parts that technically match the brake disc, master cylinder, and mounting position

The brake caliper converts the hydraulic pressure from the brake line into movement of the brake pistons. These pistons press the brake pads against the brake disc, creating the actual deceleration. A brake caliper must move smoothly, seal correctly, and fit precisely with the brake disc and mounting bracket.

  • Complete brake calipers for model-specific and custom applications
  • High-quality braking technology from Brembo
  • Compact rear brake calipers for selected conversion projects
  • Overhaul kits and brake pistons for suitable Brembo brake calipers
  • Technical parts for maintenance and restoration

This collection includes, among others, complete Brembo brake calipers for specific motorcycles and custom builds. An example is the compact Brembo P32F rear brake caliper, which can be combined with a suitable underslung mounting bracket for appropriate Honda Hawk GT and Bros projects.

Besides a complete brake caliper, overhaul may also be possible for certain Brembo systems. This involves replacing worn seals, dust rings, or brake pistons so that a technically suitable caliper does not need to be fully renewed.

Front Brake Caliper or Rear Brake Caliper

A front brake caliper is generally subjected to heavier loads and often has multiple pistons. The rear brake plays a supplementary role in stability, maneuvering, and controlled deceleration of the motorcycle.

Front and rear brake calipers are not interchangeable. Piston diameter, mounting distance, brake line position, and width for brake disc and pads must fully match.

Axial, Radial, and Custom Mounting

Brake calipers can be mounted axially or radially on the front fork. Different carriers and positions are used for the rear brake. An underslung setup places the brake caliper under the swingarm and requires a suitable mounting bracket and brake line routing.

Always check the center distance of the mounting points, disc diameter, disc thickness, and offset. A brake caliper should not be chosen solely based on brand or appearance.

Overhauling a Brake Caliper

Leaks, seized pistons, or uneven brake pad wear can be reasons for a brake caliper overhaul. Use only seals and pistons that exactly match the caliper type and version.

For example, Brembo M4 brake calipers can use different dust ring thicknesses. Also, an M50 overhaul kit is only suitable for the corresponding piston diameter and internal construction.

Installation, Bleeding, and Inspection

Use new sealing rings at connections where prescribed and tighten brake caliper and banjo bolts to the correct torque. After installation, the system must be completely filled and bled with the correct brake fluid.

Check for leaks, free wheel movement, and a firm pressure point. Brake caliper overhaul and brake system modification are safety-critical tasks and should be performed by a brake specialist if experience is insufficient.
