Derby Covers for a Powerful Harley-Davidson Finish
Replace the original cover on the primary drive with a high-quality aluminium upgrade from Rekluse
The Derby Cover is one of the recognizable round finishing parts on the left side of many Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Due to its central position on the primary chain case, this part is clearly visible and greatly influences the appearance of the engine. With an aftermarket Derby Cover, you give this area a cleaner, darker, and more personalized finish.
- Direct replacement of the original Harley-Davidson Derby Cover
- CNC-machined from solid billet aluminium
- Durable black powder coating
- Choice of smooth Black and Wrinkle Black on selected versions
- Model-specific covers from clutch specialist Rekluse
In this collection, you will find Rekluse Derby Covers for various Harley-Davidson Sportster, Dyna, Softail, and Touring applications. The covers combine a robust aluminium construction with a subtle Rekluse logo and a black finish that fits well with a blacked-out engine build.
A Derby Cover is also called a clutch inspection cover or primary drive cover. This part should not be confused with the full primary cover or primary chain case. The Derby Cover is the separate, removable finishing part that provides access to the clutch section.
Billet aluminium with a durable finish
The Rekluse Derby Covers are CNC-machined from solid aluminium. This production method allows for precise dimensions, sharp detailing, and a sturdy construction. The black powder coating protects the surface and gives the cover a finish that matches other dark engine components.
Depending on the product, you can choose between a smooth Black finish or Wrinkle Black. The smooth variant offers a sleek and modern look, while Wrinkle Black has a coarser texture that complements the classic finish of many Harley-Davidson engines.
An aesthetic upgrade with a technical function
A Derby Cover is mainly chosen for its appearance but also seals a technical part of the primary drive. Fit, sealing, and mounting are therefore important. The cover must sit flush and must not be tightened under tension.
Before installation, check the condition of the gasket or sealing ring and replace it if required according to the maintenance instructions. A damaged or incorrectly placed seal can cause oil leakage.
Carefully check model and year of manufacture
Harley-Davidson has used different primary covers, bolt patterns, and engine configurations over the years. A Derby Cover for a Sportster 883 or 1200 will therefore not automatically fit a Dyna, Softail, or Touring model.
Always select the exact model, engine, and year of manufacture. First, screw in the bolts by hand, then tighten them crosswise and evenly according to the prescribed torque. Over-tightening can damage the cover, threads, or seal.
