Brake Cleaner

Brake Cleaner for Grease-Free Brake Parts and Technical Maintenance

Removes brake dust, grease, and maintenance residues from suitable metal parts without leaving a greasy layer

Brake components must function cleanly and free of grease. Oil, chain spray, assembly grease, and other contaminants on a brake disc can reduce friction and permanently contaminate the brake pads. A suitable brake cleaner evaporates quickly and is designed for cleaning and degreasing technical parts.

  • Removes grease, oil, and loose brake dust from suitable parts
  • Practical for brake discs, brake calipers, and assembly work
  • Fast-drying cleaning without greasy residue
  • Can be applied precisely to hard-to-reach places
  • Suitable for maintenance in garages and workshops

Brake cleaner is widely used during the replacement of brake pads, brake discs, and other technical parts. The product can also be used to remove preservatives or greasy fingerprints from new brake discs before installation.

Always check the instructions for the specific product. Not every formula is suitable for painted surfaces, rubber, plastic, carbon, or anodized parts.

Cleaning Brake Discs Grease-Free

Spray the cleaner carefully onto the brake disc or apply it to a clean, lint-free cloth. If possible, slowly rotate the wheel so the entire brake surface is reached.

Use a separate cloth for brake parts that has not previously come into contact with wax, polish, chain spray, or silicone products. Otherwise, you may reintroduce contamination onto the brake disc during cleaning.

Do Not Attempt to Restore Brake Pads

A lightly dusty brake pad can be inspected during regular maintenance, but a pad deeply saturated with oil or brake fluid will not automatically become reliable again just by rinsing it with brake cleaner.

Replace severely contaminated brake pads and first resolve the cause of the contamination. For example, check for a leaking brake caliper, fork seal, or improperly applied chain spray.

Use Around Rubber and Paint

Some brake cleaners contain strong solvents. Therefore, avoid prolonged contact with paint, stickers, plastic windows, rubber seals, and other sensitive surfaces.

If in doubt, spray first onto a cloth and apply carefully. Test the product on an inconspicuous spot when material compatibility is unclear.

Work Safely and Ventilate

Use brake cleaner only on a cooled engine and away from sparks, fire, and hot exhaust parts. Work in a well-ventilated area and avoid inhaling the spray mist.

Allow all parts to dry completely before assembling or using the brakes. After maintenance, always check the pressure point and braking performance before riding the motorcycle.
