SpeedoHealers for More Accurate Speed Display

Correct a deviating electronic speed signal after changing sprocket ratio, tire size, or drive

On various motorcycles, speed is electronically calculated based on a sensor in the gearbox, drive, or wheel. When the gear ratio or effective wheel circumference changes, the displayed speed and recorded distance can deviate more significantly.

  • Correction of the electronic speed signal
  • Useful after changing front or rear sprocket
  • Can compensate for deviation caused by a different tire size
  • Model-specific connection cables available
  • Electronic correction modules from HealTech

In this collection, you will find the HealTech SpeedoHealer V4 for selected motorcycles. The module is placed in the cable connection of the speed sensor and adjusts the signal before it reaches the Dashboard & Instrumentation or the ECU.

The required correction value is set based on the measured deviation or the calculated change in gear ratio and wheel circumference.

Deviation After a Different Sprocket Ratio

A smaller front sprocket or larger rear sprocket results in more engine revolutions at the same actual speed. When the motorcycle measures speed before this changed final drive, the speedometer may therefore indicate too high.

A SpeedoHealer can correct this signal. Whether correction is needed depends on where the motorcycle measures speed. For systems that measure directly via the wheel and ABS, a different sprocket ratio may have no effect on the speed display.

Different Tire Size or Wheel Circumference

A changed rear tire height or wheel size can also affect the distance traveled per revolution. The resulting deviation can be compensated with a suitable correction module.

Use only tire and wheel sizes that are technically suitable for the motorcycle. A SpeedoHealer does not make an unsuitable tire size safe or legal.

Determining Actual Deviation

Compare the displayed speed with a reliable GPS measurement at a constant speed. Repeat the measurement at multiple speeds to determine a useful correction value.

Keep in mind that an original speedometer may deliberately indicate slightly higher than the actual speed. Do not adjust the module so that the Dashboard & Instrumentation shows a speed below the actual speed.

Model-Specific Cable Set

Plugs and speed sensors differ per motorcycle. Therefore, always choose the SpeedoHealer and cable set for the exact motorcycle model and year of manufacture.

Route the wiring away from exhaust heat, chain, sharp edges, and moving parts. After installation, check both the speed display and the operation of the odometer and any electronic assistance systems.
