Temporarily and directly connect a battery charger or tester to the battery
Do you want to charge, maintain, or check a battery without first installing a permanent connection cable? With Battery Terminals, you can quickly make a temporary connection to the positive and negative terminals. This is ideal for loose batteries, workshop use, or vehicles where you only occasionally connect a battery charger.
Battery Terminals are also called crocodile clips or charging clamps. The red terminal connects to the positive terminal and the black terminal to the negative terminal. On the other side is a connector that allows you to connect the cable to a suitable battery charger, battery tester, or power source.
Battery Terminals are especially practical when working with multiple batteries or regularly checking different vehicles. You don’t have to install a permanent cable on every battery. Even with a removed battery, terminals are usually the fastest way to make a reliable charging connection.
When choosing, pay attention to the type of connector, the maximum current rating, and the size of the terminals. Compact motor terminals are suitable for smaller motor and powersport batteries. Heavier versions offer a larger contact surface and are intended for larger battery terminals or more intensive workshop use.
Place the terminals on clean, solid metal contact points. Corrosion, dirt, or a loose connection can cause the battery charger not to recognize the battery correctly or interrupt the charging process. Also, ensure that the red and black terminals cannot touch each other once the cable is connected to the charger or power supply.
Battery Terminals for a maintenance charger are not automatically suitable for starting a vehicle. Starting requires a much higher current for a short time. Therefore, use the cable only within the application and maximum load specified by the manufacturer.
