Shock Absorber Accessories for Adjustment, Protection, and Appearance
Precisely adjust the rear suspension with suitable tie rods, adjustment options, and model-specific shock absorber covers
Various parts are mounted around the shock absorber that can affect ride height, operation, protection, or appearance. In this collection, you will find a range of accessories: from Carbon protective covers to CNC-machined reaction rods and additional adjusters for suitable shock absorbers.
- Carbon covers around the rear shock absorber
- Tie rods and dogbones for selected motorcycles
- Versions for standard or lowered seat height
- Additional adjustment options for suitable TFX Suspension shock absorbers
- Parts from CNC Racing, Lightech, and TFX Suspension
Not every product in this category affects damping. A Carbon shock absorber cover is primarily a finishing and protective part. Tie rods or dogbones, on the other hand, are technical components of the linkage between the swingarm and shock absorber.
Always check what the part actually replaces and what influence it has on the geometry or assembly of the motorcycle.
Carbon Shock Absorber Covers
A shock absorber cover helps shield the visible part of the rear suspension from light splashing dirt and gives the area around the swingarm and engine block a high-quality Carbon finish.
Depending on the motorcycle model, the cover replaces an original plastic part or is mounted additionally. Such a cover does not change the damping or spring characteristics and is not a heavy crash protector.
Tie Rods and Dogbones
The tie rods connect the swingarm linkage with the shock absorber assembly. The length and position of these parts influence the ride height and the leverage ratio of the rear suspension.
There are sets that maintain the original seat height and versions that lower the motorcycle. A lower seat height can improve ground reach but also affects ground clearance and steering geometry.
Preload and Other Adjustment Accessories
For suitable aftermarket shock absorbers, an additional preload adjuster may be available. This makes it easier to adjust the spring preload when you frequently switch between solo riding, luggage, and a passenger.
Check whether the accessory is suitable for the exact shock absorber type and whether it must be installed during production or can be added later.
Mounting on Load-Bearing Suspension Parts
Tie rods, linkage bolts, and shock absorber mounts are load-bearing components. Support the motorcycle and swingarm properly before removing fasteners and use the prescribed tightening torque.
After any modification, check chain slack, ride height, side stand angle, and clearance around the rear wheel, exhaust, and fairing parts. Have adjustments to linkage and ride height performed by a suspension specialist if in doubt.
