Top Nut for a Neatly Finished Motorcycle Cockpit
Replace the standard upper steering stem nut with a model-specific CNC-machined part that is visible on every ride
The top nut is located centrally on the upper triple clamp and is therefore one of the most noticeable fasteners in the cockpit. Factory-fitted, it is usually a simple functional part. With a CNC-machined top nut, you subtly add color, material, and a higher-quality finish.
- Model-specific replacement of the original top nut
- CNC-machined Aluminium and Grade 5 titanium available
- Anodized finishes in various colors
- Directly visible from the riding position
- Suitable mounting tools for selected versions
This collection mainly features top nuts from CNC Racing. They are also referred to as headset nuts, steering stem nuts, or upper steering stem nuts. The exact technical function and attachment vary by motorcycle design, but the part is located centrally above the steering stem.
Many versions are available in black, red, and gold. This allows you to subtly match the nut to the triple clamp or combine it with other colored CNC Racing details in the cockpit.
Aluminium or Titanium Top Nut
An anodized Aluminium top nut is primarily a high-quality visual upgrade. The machined design and color finish create a noticeably more refined detail than a standard steel or gray factory nut.
Grade 5 titanium versions are also available for selected models. Titanium combines high strength and corrosion resistance with an exclusive material appearance. For this small part, the main added value lies in material choice and finish, not in a noticeable difference in riding behavior.
Model-Specific Thread and Shape
Top nuts can vary in diameter, thread pitch, height, contact surface, and tool engagement. Always choose a version for the exact motorcycle model, variant, and year of manufacture.
A nut that looks similar or has the same outer diameter is not automatically interchangeable. Also check whether the nut is suitable for the original triple clamp or a specific aftermarket triple clamp.
Use the Appropriate Tools
Many top nuts have a special shape for which a suitable socket or installation tool is available. This ensures even application of force and reduces the risk of damaging the anodized or titanium finish.
Always adhere to the prescribed tightening torque. The top nut is part of the steering assembly and must not be tightened by feel. Protect the tank and cockpit during work and have the installation performed by a motorcycle specialist if in doubt.
