Handguards for Wind Protection and Exclusive Appearance

Give the handlebar area a high-quality carbon finish and better deflect wind, insects, and splashing dirt around your hands

Handguards are located directly in front of the hands and levers and serve both a practical and visual function. They help deflect riding wind, insects, and light splashing dirt while also forming a striking part of the cockpit. With model-specific carbon handguards, you give the motorcycle a more exclusive and sportier look.

  • Helps deflect riding wind and splashing dirt around the hands
  • Model-specifically designed for the respective handlebar setup
  • High-quality carbon construction and finish
  • Available as a complete set or individual side
  • Versions from CNC Racing and Ilmberger CarbonParts

In this collection, you will find carbon handguards for various adventure, touring, and supermotard models. The range includes complete matte carbon sets from CNC Racing for various Ducati models and individual handguards from Ilmberger CarbonParts for selected BMW motorcycles.

Always check whether the product price refers to one handguard or a complete left and right set. For individual parts, both sides must be ordered separately if you want to modify the entire handlebar area.

Combining Wind Protection and Appearance

The shape and size determine how much wind a handguard can deflect around the hands. A larger version that extends further outward or upward can be more comfortable, especially at higher speeds and lower temperatures.

However, a handguard is not a fully enclosed windscreen. The noticeable protection depends on the riding position, speed, outside temperature, and handlebar shape. Carbon is also mainly chosen for its high-quality appearance and combination with other carbon parts.

Handguard or Crash Protector?

A carbon handguard is primarily a wind deflector and aesthetic component. Although the material is sturdy, a carbon guard should not automatically be seen as a heavy-duty crash bar for the brake and clutch levers.

If you want extra structural protection around the original handguards and levers, consider an aluminum handguard protector developed specifically for that purpose. This forms a separate product category with a different construction and function.

Check Installation and Compatibility

Always choose handguards based on the exact motorcycle model, version, and year of manufacture. The position of the levers, mirrors, brake lines, and handlebar weights can vary by version.

Also check compatibility with aftermarket brake and clutch levers. Longer levers may contact the inside of the handguard. After installation, both levers must be fully operable, and the handlebar must move from stop to stop without contacting the tank, fairing, or cables.

Always install carbon parts without tension and use the prescribed fasteners and torque settings. Do not force a guard if the mounting points do not align correctly.
