Create a flexible seal between suitable mounting surfaces with LOCTITE SI 5926
Liquid Gasket is used on joints where the manufacturer specifies a curing sealing paste. The product fills small irregularities between the mounting surfaces and forms an elastic seal after curing that can accommodate temperature changes and vibrations.
In this collection, you will find LOCTITE SI 5926 Liquid Gasket. This product is used in selected engine tasks for example on crankcase and clutch covers, provided the manufacturer allows a flexible silicone gasket for that joint.
Engine blocks may use paper gaskets, rubber O-rings, metal gaskets, anaerobic sealants, or silicone paste. These systems are not interchangeable at random.
Always check the workshop manual. Do not use a thick layer of Liquid Gasket as a replacement for a prescribed solid gasket.
Both mounting surfaces must be clean, flat, and free of old sealing residues. LOCTITE SF 7200 can help soften hardened chemical gasket without aggressive scraping of the metal.
Avoid damaging aluminum sealing surfaces. Scratches and deep grooves can cause leaks later on.
Apply a thin, continuous bead around the sealing surface and the prescribed bolt holes. Too much product can be pressed inward during assembly and enter oil or coolant channels.
Assemble the parts within the indicated processing time and then move the parts as little as possible relative to each other.
SI 5926 cures by contact with air humidity. Observe the prescribed curing time before starting the engine or filling the system with oil or coolant.
Temperature, humidity, and layer thickness affect the speed at which the gasket fully cures.
Do not use the product on fuel systems, oxygen systems, or other applications for which it is not approved. Also check compatibility with the existing plastic or coating.
Tighten the fastening bolts in the prescribed order and with the correct torque. After assembly and the first drive, carefully check for leaks.
