Crash Bars

CrashProtection Bars for Extra Protection of Engine and Fairing

Protect vulnerable parts of your motorcycle with a model-specific tubular construction for street and adventure use

A crashprotection bar is mounted around vulnerable areas of the motorcycle and can, in the event of a minor fall, slide, or contact during offroad use, hit the ground before the engine, fuel tank, or fairing. The tubular construction distributes the contact over multiple mounting points and simultaneously forms a robust visual extension of the motorcycle.

  • Model-specific protection around engine and fuel tank
  • Sturdy construction of bent steel tubing
  • Durable black powder coating
  • Developed for use on street and offroad terrain
  • CrashProtection bars from brands including CNC Racing

In this collection, you will find crashprotection bars for selected adventure motorcycles, including the Ducati DesertX. The shape, mounting points, and clearance are tailored to the construction of the specific motorcycle model.

A universal crashprotection bar cannot simply be applied to another motorcycle. Frame, engine mounts, radiator position, fairing shape, and exhaust routing differ by model and year.

Protection during adventure and offroad use

On unpaved terrain, the chance of the motorcycle falling over at low speed or moving along stones, branches, and other obstacles is higher. A crashprotection bar can help prevent vulnerable parts from being the first to hit the ground directly.

The exact effectiveness always depends on the fall direction, speed, surface, and any luggage present. No crashprotection bar can guarantee that fairing, frame, or engine remain undamaged in every fall.

Steel tubular construction

Steel tubing is suitable for a crashprotection bar because it allows a strong and shape-retaining construction. The tubes are bent model-specifically and attached to the motorcycle at multiple points.

The black powder coating protects the metal against normal weather influences and visually matches the frame, engine, and other protective parts.

Combining with other protection

A crashprotection bar can be combined with a sump guard, radiator cover, fork protectors, and swingarm protectors. However, check whether the different accessories use the same mounting points.

Additional lights, bags, or other accessories may only be mounted on the crashprotection bar if the construction and manufacturer allow it.

Model-specific fit

Always select the exact motorcycle model, version, and year. Also check whether the motorcycle still has the original exhaust, fairing parts, and engine mounts.

A different sump guard, aftermarket exhaust, or modified fairing can change the clearance and accessibility of the mounting points.

Installation and inspection after a fall

First loosely place all fasteners and align the entire construction before tightening the bolts definitively. Use the prescribed spacers and torque settings.

After every fall, inspect the crashprotection bar for deformation, cracks, damaged welds, and shifted mounting points. A deformed bar must not press against the engine, radiator, or fuel tank.
