Motor Cylinders and Cylinder Parts for Overhaul and Tuning

Choose a technically suitable cylinder solution for carefully overhauling or building your engine

The cylinder, together with the piston, piston rings, and cylinder head, forms the heart of a combustion engine. The dimensions and condition of these parts directly affect the compression, sealing, and operation of the engine. In this collection, you will find model-specific cylinder parts for technical overhauls and specialized engine projects.

  • Technical engine parts for specific applications
  • Intended for overhaul, repair, or specialized engine builds
  • Exact dimensions required for the specific engine block
  • To be combined with technically suitable pistons and piston rings
  • Products from the Italian motorcycle specialist Edo Vigna Racing

A motor cylinder is not a universal replacement part. The bore, height, fit, attachment, and connection to the cylinder head and crankcase must exactly match the engine block. The used piston, piston rings, gaskets, and any cylinder head modifications must also be assessed as one technical system.

In this collection, you will find cylinder parts from Edo Vigna Racing. EVR focuses on technical engine components and performance solutions primarily for Ducati engine blocks. Always check the exact product description and application before ordering a part for an overhaul or tuning project.

Overhaul starts with measuring

Wear on a cylinder is not always immediately visible to the eye. For a reliable assessment, the bore, roundness, taper, and surface of the cylinder must be checked. The clearance between piston and cylinder must also fall within the prescribed tolerances.

If the cylinder is damaged, oval, or excessively worn, replacement or specialist machining may be necessary. Which solution is technically responsible depends on the material, construction, and available repair sizes. Have this assessment performed by an engine overhaul specialist equipped with the proper measuring tools.

Match cylinder and piston precisely

The nominal diameter alone is not enough to determine if a cylinder and piston can be combined. The required assembly clearance varies depending on piston material, engine block, and application. The position of the piston pin, compression height, and shape of the piston crown must also fit the crankshaft, connecting rod, and cylinder head.

With a changed bore or compression ratio, additional work may be necessary. Consider checking valve clearance relative to the piston, adjusting fuel settings, and assessing the thermal load on the engine block.

Assembly by a motorcycle specialist

Installing a cylinder requires complete disassembly of a significant part of the engine block. The piston rings must be correctly installed, sealing surfaces must be clean and flat, and gaskets and fasteners must be mounted according to technical specifications.

Always use the prescribed torque settings and assembly sequence. Also check lubrication, valve timing, and free movement of the engine block before starting the engine. Due to the required measurements and possible rework, we recommend having these tasks performed by a specialized engine builder or overhaul workshop.
