Polishing Pads for Correction, Refinement, and Paint Protection
Combine the polishing compound with the right hardness and size pad for controlled results on motorcycle and car paint
The polishing pad brings the polishing compound into contact with the paint and partly determines how much correction and refinement is achieved. A firm pad removes more visible defects, while a soft pad is mainly used for finishing polish, glaze, wax, or sealant. Choosing the right pad prevents unnecessarily heavy polishing.
- Hand pads for small and hard-to-reach motorcycle parts
- Machine pads for Dual Action and rotary polishers
- Cutting pads for visible scratches, swirls, and oxidation
- Polishing pads for medium correction and refinement
- Finishing pads for gloss, glaze, wax, and sealant
In this collection, you will find polishing pads from brands such as Monello, D-Con, and Chemical Guys. The pads vary in diameter, thickness, material, and foam hardness. Color coding also differs per manufacturer. An orange pad from one brand does not automatically have exactly the same effect as an orange pad from another brand.
Always read the product-specific description and combine the pad with a suitable polishing compound. The final effect is determined by the complete combination, not just the color of the pad.
Cutting, polishing, and finishing
A cutting pad has a firmer structure and is combined with a compound or corrective polish. This combination is intended for visible swirls, oxidation, and light to medium scratches.
A polishing pad has moderate hardness and is suitable for a medium polish or one-step product. A finishing pad is softer and is used to remove light haze, enhance gloss, or apply a protective product thinly.
Hand pads for motorcycle parts
A motorcycle has many small, round, and strongly shaped surfaces where a large polishing machine is difficult to use safely. A hand pad provides more control around tank edges, side covers, fenders, and narrow fairing parts.
Manual polishing takes more time but reduces the chance of hitting an edge, sticker, or surrounding part with a machine in difficult positions.
The right size for the backing plate
A machine polishing pad must fit the diameter of the backing plate. The pad may extend slightly beyond the backing plate so that the hard edge of the backing plate does not directly touch the surface.
Do not use a pad that is too small on a large backing plate. Also, check that the hook-and-loop connection fits completely and the pad is correctly centered before starting the machine.
Clean pads during and after use
Polishing compound, removed paint residues, and dirt accumulate in the pad during work. This reduces correction power and can cause the pad to heat up. Therefore, clean or change the pad regularly during a larger treatment.
Wash used pads according to the manufacturer's instructions and let them air dry completely. Use separate pads for compound, finishing polish, and wax to prevent different products from unintentionally mixing.
