Side Stand Eliminator for a Clean, Track-Focused Motorcycle
A side stand eliminator is used when the original side stand of a motorcycle is removed. The kit tidies up the freed mounting point and may, depending on the model, include a solution for the side stand switch. These parts are primarily intended for track motorcycles and other specially built bikes.
- Allows complete removal of the side stand
- Neatly finishes the original mounting position
- Designed for track-focused motorcycle projects
- May include a solution for the safety switch
- Model-specific fit and electrical connection
Removing the Side Stand
On a specially built track motorcycle, a side stand is often unnecessary. The bike is placed on front and rear paddock stands, allowing the original mechanism to be removed.
An eliminator kit ensures the freed mounting position is neatly finished. Depending on the design, the original mounting bracket may also be replaced.
Primarily for Track Use
After removing the side stand, the motorcycle can no longer be parked independently. A paddock stand or other suitable support is always required. This makes an eliminator especially interesting for motorcycles used exclusively or mainly on the track.
For normal street use, the absence of a side stand is often impractical. Also, consider any technical or legal requirements that apply to your application.
The Side Stand Switch
Many modern motorcycles have a safety switch that detects whether the side stand is folded up. When the stand and switch are removed, the bike may display an error message or refuse to shift into gear.
Some eliminator kits therefore include a model-specific plug or electronic solution. Be sure to check whether this is included and suitable for your motorcycle’s electronics.
Model-Specific Design
The mechanical mounting and electrical safety features vary by model and year. Do not use a universal solution unless the manufacturer explicitly approves it for the specific motorcycle.
Also verify whether the kit is compatible with the original wiring harness, a race wiring harness, or modified ECU software. These systems may react differently to the removal of the switch.
Installation and Safe Support
Support the motorcycle securely before removing the side stand. Watch out for springs under tension and avoid damaging the cable or plug of the safety switch.
After installation, check that no loose parts or open electrical connections remain. Test the motorcycle’s operation before use and always ensure a suitable paddock stand is available.
