Fork Seals

Fork Seals and Dust Caps for a Leak-Free Fork

Restore the fork seal with a model-specific set of seals and dust caps

The oil seals keep the fork oil inside the fork while the inner tubes slide in and out of the outer tubes during every braking and suspension movement. The dust caps are located above and help prevent dirt, water, and small particles from reaching the seal.

  • Model-specific sets for various motorcycles
  • All Balls Racing seals and dust caps
  • Original Honda seals for selected applications
  • For maintenance and complete fork overhaul
  • To be combined with the recommended fork oil

In this collection, you will find complete sets for both fork legs and separate original sets for one fork leg. Always check the scope of delivery before ordering.

Oil Seal and Dust Cap

The oil seal provides the actual sealing of the fork oil. The dust cap protects this seal from dirt and moisture from outside.

It is advisable to replace both parts at the same time. An old or damaged dust cap can cause new seals to become contaminated prematurely again.

Signs of a Leaking Seal

A greasy ring around the inner tube, oil traces along the fork, or oil on the front fender can indicate a leaking seal.

In case of severe leakage, oil can run toward the brake caliper, brake disc, or tire. Do not use the motorcycle if fork oil can affect grip or braking performance.

Check the Inner Tubes

A new seal remains reliable only if the running surface of the inner tube is smooth and undamaged. Rust spots, stone chip damage, and sharp burrs can immediately damage a new seal.

Also check guide bushings and slide bearings for wear. Excessive play between inner and outer tubes puts uneven stress on the seals.

Complete Set or One Fork Leg

Many All Balls Racing sets contain two oil seals and two dust caps and are intended for both fork legs. An original Honda set, on the other hand, may contain one oil seal and one dust cap for one leg.

Check the number of parts in the product description and order enough sets for the full overhaul.

Use New Fork Oil

When disassembling the fork legs, the old oil is drained. After assembly, fill the fork with the prescribed type, the correct amount, and the proper oil level.

Do not automatically use the same viscosity for every motorcycle. Fork construction, damping valves, and factory settings differ per model.

Assembly with Suitable Tools

Protect the lip of the new seal during assembly from sharp edges and threads. Use a suitable seal driver to place the seal straight and at the correct depth.

A fork overhaul requires specialized tools and precise work. If in doubt, have the work done by a suspension specialist.
