Cleaners for engines, parts, and technical maintenance

Remove road dirt, grease, deposits, and maintenance residues with a cleaner suited to the material and application

An engine consists of many different materials and technical systems. Paint, plastic, rubber, aluminum, filters, and fuel components each require a different cleaning method. In this collection, you will find various cleaners for both the exterior of the engine and specialized maintenance tasks.

  • Cleaners for engine block, fairing parts, rubber, and plastic
  • Powerful degreasers for greasy technical parts
  • Specialist cleaner for reusable air filters
  • Additives for cleaning injectors and fuel systems
  • Products from brands including D-Con, Chemical Guys, MWR, and Putoline

The range varies from versatile all-purpose cleaners to products with one specific technical application. For example, an APC can be used on various suitable surfaces around the engine and workshop. An air filter cleaner is specifically developed to remove dirt and old filter oil from a reusable filter.

Always check the product description before you start. A powerful degreaser or technical maintenance product is not automatically suitable for paint, carbon, anodized aluminum, or other sensitive finishes.

All-purpose cleaners and degreasers

An All Purpose Cleaner, usually abbreviated as APC, is intended for a variety of cleaning tasks. Depending on the product and the dilution used, an APC can be suitable for plastic, rubber, seats, engine block, and other technical surfaces.

For heavy contamination, there are concentrated degreasers. These help loosen oily deposits, old lubricants, and stubborn road dirt. Use a strong cleaner only where necessary and choose a milder dilution for lighter contamination.

Cleaning chain and engine parts

Around the chain, sprockets, and engine block, a combination of chain grease, dust, and road dirt often accumulates. Special engine and parts cleaners are available to help loosen this greasy contamination.

Prevent degreaser from getting on brake discs, brake pads, tires, or other surfaces where grip and friction are essential. Rinse or carefully wipe off product residues and reapply suitable chain lubricant after cleaning.

Cleaner for reusable air filters

An oiled, reusable air filter must be cleaned periodically with a product developed for that purpose. A normal degreaser can damage the filter material, glue joints, or filter foam.

Therefore, use a suitable air filter cleaner and follow the maintenance instructions of the filter manufacturer. Allow the filter to dry completely after cleaning and then apply the prescribed filter oil evenly. Never install a filter dry when the system requires an oiled filter.

Cleaners for the fuel system

Fuel system cleaners are added to the gasoline and are intended to help reduce deposits in injectors and valve zones, among others. These products are not applied directly to the exterior of the engine.

Always adhere to the prescribed dosage and check whether the additive is suitable for the engine type, the fuel used, and any existing catalytic converter. Do not randomly combine multiple fuel additives in the same tank.

Safe and controlled working

Work on a cooled engine and preferably outside out of direct sunlight. Test a cleaner first on a small, inconspicuous area and do not let the product dry on the surface.

Protect electrical connections, air intakes, and sensitive components from excessive moisture. Use clean brushes, applicators, and microfiber cloths, and prevent tools used for greasy engine parts from later being used on paint or carbon.
