Winglets for Aerodynamics and Appearance
Winglets give modern sport motorcycles their distinctive, race-oriented look. These aerodynamic elements are mounted on the front or side of the fairing and can, depending on the design, influence the airflow around the motorcycle. In this collection, you will find model-specific winglets in various materials and finishes.
- Give the motorcycle a pronounced racing appearance
- Follow the shape and lines of the front or side fairing
- Model-specifically developed for a perfect fit
- Available as a replacement or sporty upgrade
- Options include plastic, aluminum, and carbon
Inspired by Modern Race Bikes
Winglets originated from the development of aerodynamics in MotoGP and the World Superbike Championship, among others. Nowadays, similar elements can also be found on various street motorcycles. They enhance the technical and aggressive look of the front end.
Aftermarket winglets can serve as replacements for damaged original parts or as a visual upgrade for motorcycles that were not equipped with the same version from the factory.
Aerodynamic Design
The shape and angle of a winglet determine how the air flows around it. In functionally developed systems, this can affect the pressure around the front of the motorcycle at higher speeds. The actual effect depends on the design, mounting position, riding speed, and the rest of the fairing.
Not every aftermarket winglet is aerodynamically tested. When the manufacturer does not provide measurement data or test results, the part should primarily be considered an aesthetic upgrade.
Model-Specific Fit
Winglets must fit precisely to the fairing. The shape of the mounting surface, the position of the mounting holes, and the angle of the part vary per motorcycle and model generation. Therefore, always choose a version explicitly developed for your model and year of manufacture.
Also check whether the winglets are suitable for original fairing parts or for a specific race fairing. A similar outer shape does not automatically mean the mounting points match.
Various Materials and Finishes
Winglets are available in plastic, aluminum, and carbon. Plastic is practical and often matches original parts. CNC-machined aluminum gives a technical character, while carbon is mainly chosen for its low weight and high-quality, sporty appearance.
When it comes to carbon winglets, pay attention to the weave pattern and finish. Glossy and matte carbon can look very different visually and should preferably match the other carbon parts of the motorcycle.
Installation and Mounting
Installation can vary from mounting on existing mounting points to drilling additional holes in the fairing. Check this in the product information beforehand. Always use the supplied mounting hardware and ensure the load is well distributed over the fairing part.
After installation, check that both winglets are aligned equally and securely fastened. Also, make sure they do not contact levers, cables, or other parts at full steering lock.
