Crash Protectors

Crash Protectors for Frame and Engine Protection

Add a model-specific contact point that touches the ground first in a minor fall, protecting vulnerable engine parts

Crash Protectors, also known as crash bobbins or frame sliders, are mounted on both sides of the motorcycle. The protruding contact parts are designed to absorb part of the impact in a minor fall or slide and create distance between the ground and vulnerable parts such as fairings, frame, and engine.

  • Model-specific sets for left and right sides
  • Mounting on strong points of the frame or engine mounts
  • CNC-machined aluminum mounting parts
  • Replaceable Nylon contact blocks in suitable sets
  • Crash Protectors from Evotech Performance and selected other brands

In this collection, you will find crash protectors for various motorcycle brands and models. Evotech Performance develops the mounting parts around the existing construction of the motorcycle, so the forces are distributed over appropriate mounting points.

The exact design varies per motorcycle. Some sets use a single through-mounting axle, while others are mounted separately on the left and right frame or engine mounts.

What can crash protectors protect?

In a stationary or slow-moving fall, crash protectors can help prevent fairing parts, engine covers, and frame from directly hitting the ground first.

The effectiveness depends on the surface, speed, obstacles, and fall direction. A crash protector can catch on a curb or unevenness during a longer slide. Therefore, full protection can never be guaranteed.

Nylon contact block and aluminum mounting

Nylon is used as the outer contact material in many crash protectors because it can wear down during contact with the road surface. The internal mounting and any spacer plates are made of metal.

Check if loose replacement bobbins are available. After a minor fall, a modular system may not require replacing the entire mounting set.

Mounting without or with fairing modification

Many model-specific Evotech sets are designed to be mounted without drilling or cutting. However, this does not automatically apply to every product or fairing configuration.

Read the installation manual before ordering and check if fairing parts need to be temporarily removed or modified.

Frame and engine mounting bolts

Crash protectors are often mounted on load-bearing mounting points. Therefore, do not remove multiple engine mounting bolts simultaneously unless specified in the manual.

Support the engine if necessary and use the correct torque. Incorrect installation can cause stress in the frame or engine mounts.

Combining with other protection

Crash protectors can be combined with engine guards, fork sliders, and swingarm protectors. Together, these different parts protect their own zones of the motorcycle.

Make sure accessories do not touch each other and that there is enough space around the fairing, exhaust, and legs.

Inspection after a fall

After contact, check not only the visible Nylon block but also the bolt, mounting bracket, and the mounting point in the frame or engine.

Replace bent, cracked, or heavily worn parts. Do not continue using the motorcycle if an engine mount, frame point, or load-bearing bolt may be damaged.
