Servo Eliminators for Exhaust Systems Without Servomotor
Remove an unnecessary exhaust servomotor without the engine management registering a missing servo signal as a fault
Many motorcycles come from the factory with an electronically controlled valve in the exhaust system. A servomotor operates this valve via one or more cables. When installing a sport exhaust that eliminates the original exhaust valve, the servomotor and cables are often no longer functionally needed.
- Model-specific solution for a removed exhaust servomotor
- Helps prevent servo-related FI and fault messages
- Plug-and-play connection to the original connector
- Compact, lightweight, and water-resistant design
- Servo eliminators from specialist ServoBuddy
A ServoBuddy is connected to the original servomotor connector. The module sends back an electrical signal that matches what the engine management expects from a properly functioning servo system.
This allows the original servomotor to be removed when the valve and cables are no longer used by the new exhaust system. The exact operation and connector are model- and year-specific.
When do you need a servo eliminator?
A servo eliminator is relevant when the original exhaust valve, servomotor, or cable control is removed and the engine management continues to check for the presence of the servo.
For a slip-on that retains the original valve and servomotor, an eliminator is usually not necessary. Therefore, first check which parts are removed with the installed exhaust system.
Prevents servo faults but is not ECU tuning
The module only simulates the expected electrical servo signal. A ServoBuddy does not change fuel mapping, ignition timing, or electronic throttle control.
After installing a decat, full exhaust system, or heavily modified intake, separate engine management tuning may be required. The servo eliminator does not replace such a tuning module or ECU remap.
Always select model-specific
Connectors, electronic signals, and control strategies differ by motorcycle brand, model, and year. A module for a Ducati will therefore not automatically fit a BMW, Honda, or Yamaha.
Also verify that the specified application matches the exact version of the motorcycle. Even within one model range, exhaust valve control can change during a model update.
Installation and fault codes
Connect the module to the original servo connector and place it in a dry, protected location away from exhaust heat and moving parts. Only remove cables and servomotor after confirming they have no other function.
An existing fault code does not always disappear immediately after connection on every motorcycle. The fault may need to be cleared or multiple ignition cycles may be required. If a fault persists, check the connector, application, and stored fault code.
