Make the preload of the Front Fork or rear shock absorber more accessible and adapt the motorcycle to rider and load
The spring preload determines how much the suspension compresses under the weight of the motorcycle, rider, and luggage. A preload adjuster makes the existing preload adjustment easier to operate. Depending on the product, it is a compact adjuster on top of the Front Fork or a separate control for a suitable rear shock absorber.
The CNC Racing preload adjusters are mounted on the existing preload adjustment on top of the Front Fork. They increase grip and make it possible to operate the adjuster more easily by hand. The sets are milled from Ergal7075 and are available in various anodized colors.
The TFX Suspension version is a different product type. It is intended as an optional control for suitable rear shock absorbers and makes it more practical to adjust the rear spring when the load changes.
By adding more preload, the spring does not actually become stiffer. Instead, the starting position of the suspension changes, and thus how much the motorcycle compresses under load.
This is especially relevant when switching between solo riding, a passenger, and heavy luggage. A correct ride height helps the motorcycle maintain its intended geometry and available suspension travel.
Front Fork adjusters are supplied in different sizes that must fit the original adjuster. The diameter or wrench size can vary per Front Fork and motorcycle model.
Therefore, select not only by motorcycle model but also check the installed Front Fork. Special S-, R-, SP-, or Racing versions may have different suspension than the base model.
An external or hydraulic preload adjuster makes it possible to adjust the rear spring without having to work directly with an Allen key on the spring seat. This is especially practical when you regularly ride with varying luggage or a passenger.
Check whether the adjuster is suitable for the chosen TFX Suspension shock absorber and whether it can be ordered together with the shock absorber or installed afterward.
Do not set spring preload solely by feel or by the number of visible rings. Measure the free and loaded suspension travel, also called sag, and take into account the weight of the rider, protective clothing, and normal luggage.
Note the original setting before making any changes and adjust the left and right sides of the Front Fork exactly the same. A preload adjuster does not replace the appropriate spring rate or professional setup when the standard springs do not match the weight and usage.
