Clutch Cover

Clutch Covers for Protection and a Striking Engine Finish

Give the clutch side of your motorcycle a high-quality finish with a model-specific open, closed, or Carbon cover

The clutch cover is located in a prominent position on the side of the engine. Depending on the motorcycle, it seals the wet clutch and engine oil, protects a dry clutch, or serves as an additional cover over the original engine cover. In this collection, you will find various technically different types of clutch covers.

  • Model-specific covers for dry and wet clutches
  • Choice of open, closed, and additional protective covers
  • Carbon versions for a premium engine finish
  • Various matte and glossy finishes
  • Parts from, among others, Ilmberger CarbonParts

For Ducati motorcycles with a dry clutch, there are open and closed covers. An open version reveals the pressure plate and moving clutch, while a closed cover further shields the construction from contact and contamination.

For motorcycles with a wet clutch, you will find, among others, Carbon covers from Ilmberger CarbonParts. Depending on the version, these can replace an original finishing part or be mounted over an existing engine cover. Always check the exact product description and mounting function.

Open or Closed Cover for a Dry Clutch

An open clutch cover is mainly chosen for the visible mechanics, the mechanical sound, and the ability to dissipate heat and clutch dust around the plate pack. However, the moving parts remain less protected.

A closed cover offers a more protected and understated solution. A closed Carbon cover can also maintain the distinctive dry clutch look while limiting direct contact with moving parts.

Carbon Cover for a Wet Clutch

With a wet clutch, the plate pack rotates in engine oil and is sealed by a fluid-tight engine cover. A Carbon product in this category is therefore not automatically the load-bearing, oil-containing main cover. Often it is an outer cover or protector.

Check whether the part is glued, mounted with original bolts, or replaces an existing non-load-bearing part. Do not use the product as a replacement for an oil-containing cover unless explicitly stated.

Carefully Check Installation and Sealing

For an oil-containing clutch cover, the gasket, sealing surfaces, and tightening torques are essential. For a dry clutch, the pressure plate, springs, and moving parts must remain completely free-running.

Always install Carbon parts without stress and check the clearance to exhaust parts, brake pedal, and fairing. Choose the exact engine model and year, and if in doubt, have work on oil-containing engine covers performed by an experienced mechanic.
