Carbon chain guards for protection and sporty finishing
Replace the standard plastic chain cover with model-specific carbon that combines technology and appearance
The drive chain rotates at high speed while riding and carries chain lubricant, water, and road dirt. A chain guard shields the upper part of the chain and helps prevent dirt and lubricant from being flung directly toward the engine, clothing, or surrounding parts.
- Model-specific replacement of the original chain guard
- Helps limit contact with the moving upper part of the chain
- Reduces splashing chain lubricant and road dirt
- High-quality carbon upgrade for swingarm and drive
- Available as a standalone guard or combined with a hugger
This collection mainly features carbon chain guards from Ilmberger CarbonParts. Some versions replace only the original plastic chain cover. Other products combine the chain guard with a rear fender or hugger, providing additional protection for both the chain and the rear shock absorber area.
The carbon chain guards are model-specifically shaped around the swingarm, chain path, and original mounting points. This ensures a tight fit without the need to shorten or modify a universal part.
A functional part in a visible position
The chain guard has a clear safety and protective function but is also located in a highly visible position above the swingarm. A carbon version gives this part of the motorcycle a more technical and exclusive look.
Especially when combined with a carbon rear fender, swingarm cover, heel plates, or frame covers, a cohesive look around the rear wheel is created. Preferably choose the same carbon pattern and the same matte or glossy finish as the other parts.
Standalone chain guard or combination with hugger
Before ordering, check whether the product replaces only the chain guard or also includes the rear fender. A combined hugger additionally protects the rear shock absorber and underside of the motorcycle better against splashing water and dirt.
The mounting points of a combined version may differ from those of a standalone chain guard. Therefore, both product types are not automatically interchangeable.
Check free chain movement after installation
After installation, the chain must run completely free under all conditions. Check the clearance with correct chain tension and take into account the movement of the rear suspension.
Use the prescribed fastening materials and install the carbon without tension. Also, regularly check that the bolts are tight and that the guard shows no signs of contact with the chain.
